Seni kerajinan memiliki peran strategis untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat, karena industri ini umumnya berbasis bahan lokal untuk membuat berbagai produk artistik yang diminati pasar global. Salah satu jenis kerajinan adalah kerajinan tempurung kelapa. Kerajinan tempurung kelapa yaitu produk estetik yang dibuat dari bahan tempurung kelapa dengan ketrampilan dan kreativitas seni. Pengembangan industri kerajinan ini dapat meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat, karena potensi bahan baku di Indonesia melimpah, dan pasar dalam negeri maupun ekspor pun masih terbuka lebar. Tulisan ini akan mengkaji potensi dan prospek kerajinan tempurung kelapa menjadi industri kreatif unggulan, berbasis bahan alami lokal yang memiliki prospek pasar ekspor. Metode penulisannya adalah deskriptif kualitatif, untuk memaparkan tentang: definisi, bahan dan alat, teknik pembuatan, dan hasil produknya, dengan perspektif sebagai produk berorientasi ekspor. Pengetahuan ini dapat menambah wawasan tentang seni kerajinan serta menginspirasi tumbuhnya usaha baru di bidang kerajinan tempurung kelapa.

ABSTRACT

Crafts have a strategic role to improve people's welfare, because this industry is generally based on local materials to make various artistic products that are in demand by the global market. One type of craft is coconut shell craft. Coconut shell crafts are aesthetic products made from coconut shells with artistic skills and creativity. The development of this craft industry can improve the welfare of the community, because of the potential for raw materials in Indonesia is abundant, and the domestic and export markets are still wide open. This paper will examine the potential and prospects of coconut shell craft to become a leading creative industry, based on local natural materials that have export market prospects. The presentation is by presenting: definitions, materials and tools, manufacturing techniques, and their products, with the perspective of being an export-oriented product. This knowledge can add insight into the arts of crafts and inspire the growth of new businesses in the coconat shell craft sector.
